How to use this book

Welcome to The Wine Tasting Journal Notebook — the no-fuss way to remember every wine you enjoy. You do not need to be a sommelier or a wine student to use this journal. You just need to enjoy wine and want to stop forgetting the names of bottles you loved. This notebook is designed to be fast, simple, and actually useful in real life. This notebook has two sections that do two straightforward jobs.

RAPID-ENTRY TASTING LOGS (Pages 5–104)

Use one log per wine. Fill in the name, producer, vintage, and region. Circle the color and give it a star rating out of five. Jot down what you tasted — fruit, sweetness, how dry it was, whether you would buy it again. There is a notes line for anything else worth remembering: who you shared it with, what you ate with it, where you bought it, or simply why you loved it. The whole thing takes about two minutes to fill in. That is the point.

The TO-BUY SHOPPING LISTS (Pages 105–114)

These pages are for wines you want to track down. Write down the name, producer, and where you heard about it — a recommendation from a friend, a bottle you tried at a restaurant, something you spotted in a shop. Each entry has a checkbox so you can tick it off once you have found and tried it. Over time these pages become a personal wine wish list you can pull out whenever you are in a wine shop or browsing online.

TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM THIS NOTEBOOK

Fill in the tasting log while the wine is still in your glass — or at least before the bottle is finished. Add the date so you can look back and see how your taste has changed over time. Use the To-Buy lists actively: bring this notebook with you when you shop. Keep it honest — the whole point is to build a personal record of what you actually enjoy, not what you think you should enjoy. No jargon, no complicated scales, no expertise required. Just pour, taste, and write it down.
